Edmonton -- Right fielder Jay Bruce had surgery Monday to repair torn meniscus in the left knee. The Reds said he could be out to get a month.

Bruce was placed on this 15-day disabled list Tuesday plus the club selected the contract associated with Roger Bernadina from Triple-A Louisville before opening up a series in Boston up against the Red Sox.

Dr. Tim Kremchek, the Reds' professional medical director, performed the procedure.
